If you decide to use your own boat transport trailer or cradle, understand that you take full responsibility of any damage or mishaps that may occur as a result of your trailer not being fit for transport. Be sure to inspect your trailer thoroughly, paying close attention that all bolts are tight, and that there are no weak areas in the trailer. Check the condition of your tires' tread and air pressure, and replace them if need be. Check the lighting system on your trailer to see that the lights and wires are in good working condition. Note: It is suggested that wooden boats be transported in their own custom cradle, as they are made to spread the boat's weight properly.
If using one of the transporter's boat trailers, discuss with them any specific details they may need you to comply with. They will also inform you how they can load and unload your boat. Depending on where you would like your boat picked up and delivered, most carriers can give you options of trailer types that will fit your needs. Research and inform yourself about the different options of boat trailers there are, as you may end up picking one company over another based on the boat trailer transport they offer. For example, some companies will have the equipment to transport your boat and trailer on their trailer, while others may not.
